Some down comforter manufacturers offer an allergy free guarantee on their products. The down used in these allergy free comforters has been through a hypercleaning process. Gentle, biodegradable cleaning agents are used to wash the down. The down is then rinsed five to eight times.
Hypercleaning is gentle yet effective. It removes dust, dirt and allergens leaving the down up to four times cleaner than the down found in comforters that have not been hypercleaned. Even if you’ve purchased a down comforter with an allergy-free guarantee, it’s best to enclose the down comforter in a down comforter cover.
