True geese are medium to large birds, always (with the exception of the Nēnē) associated to a greater or lesser extent with water. Most species in Europe, Asia, and North America are strongly migratory as wild birds, breeding in the far north and wintering much farther south. However, escapes and introductions have led to resident feral populations of several species.Geese have been domesticated for centuries. In the West, farmyard geese are descended from the Greylag, but in Asia the Swan Goose has been farmed for at least as long.

All geese eat a largely vegetarian diet, and can become pests when flocks feed on arable crops or inhabit ponds or grassy areas in urban environments. They also take invertebrates if the opportunity presents itself; domestic geese will try out most novel food items for edibility. Geese usually mate for life, though a small number will “divorce” and remate. They tend to lay a smaller number of eggs than ducks but both parents protect the nest and young, which usually results in a higher survival rate for the young geese.

They don’t kill their birds for down and feather.  It is one of the few last remaining places in Europe where geese are still widely raised in the countryside for a variety of purposes. Geese raising has been a long time tradition in Hungary and all the industries associated with geese are highly sophisticated and refined.

The manufacturer is using only large cluster hand harvested down and feather without any injury ( proven by the veterinary and hygiene institute) to our birds. Our down is not a by product of the food industry. All product filled with New 100% Hungarian White Goose Down. We are Not using feather share or duck or refurbished /used/ down.

Hungarian Geese

I was really happy to see that your goose down is a product of humane collection methods used in Europe.  A lot of people don’t know that geese are still raised in Europe and treated humanely for collecting their down.  Sometimes in the United States you’ll get down that is a by-product of the food industry or from a bird that was killed for its feathers.

Thankfully I don’t have to worry about those types of things with your goose down comforters and pillows.  Knowing they’re all backed by a company with over 300 years of experience and from birds that are allowed to roam free helps me sleep better at night.  And a better sleep is what I come to you for!
